Seahawks Rule Out Zach Charbonnet for 49ers Game, Leonard Williams Status Uncertain
Seattle coach Mike Macdonald said Monday running back Zach Charbonnet will practice in team drills this week but will not play Sunday against San Francisco, while defensive lineman Leonard Williams remains uncertain after an ankle injury.
Seattle running back Zach Charbonnet will take part in team drills at practice this week but will not play on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald told reporters on Monday, according to Reuters.
Charbonnet has not yet played this season after tearing his ACL during the NFC divisional round against San Francisco last postseason, according to Reuters. The 25-year-old was Seattle’s second-round pick, 52nd overall, in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Backfield remains thin for Seattle
Charbonnet ran for a career-high 730 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. Over three seasons with Seattle, he has rushed for 1,761 yards and 21 touchdowns and caught 95 passes for 693 yards and one touchdown in 49 games, according to Reuters.
Seattle’s options remain limited this week. Rookie running back Jadarian Price was placed on injured reserve on Saturday with a chest injury, and Reuters reported that Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and Velus Jones are the team’s active running backs unless veteran Joe Mixon, who reportedly had a workout with the team on Monday afternoon, is signed.
Leonard Williams also uncertain
Macdonald also said defensive lineman Leonard Williams is uncertain for the San Francisco game after sustaining an ankle injury in Seattle’s 30-23 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Reuters. Macdonald said the team is optimistic and will see how the week goes.
Williams, 32, has been a Pro Bowler in each of his first two full seasons in Seattle and has recorded 39 tackles for loss and 25 sacks in 47 games with the Seahawks, according to Reuters.
