Jahmyr Gibbs Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week After Passing Barry Sanders’ Touchdown Mark
Gibbs ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns in Detroit's 45-21 win at Arizona, moving past Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns by an NFL player before age 25.
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week after a 151-yard, two-touchdown performance in Detroit’s 45-21 road win over the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday.

It is the fourth time Gibbs has received the honor. He carried 25 times for 151 yards and two scores and added five catches for 56 yards in the win at Arizona.
The two touchdowns gave Gibbs 58 for his career, moving him past Lions legend and Hall of Famer Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns by any NFL player before age 25.
A season of firsts

Gibbs is the first player in Lions franchise history to produce at least 75 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in each of the first five games of a season. He is also the sixth player in NFL history to total at least 740 scrimmage yards and nine or more touchdowns in a season’s first five games, joining Jim Brown (1958, 1963), Eric Dickerson (1983), Emmitt Smith (1995) and Priest Holmes (2002).
Through five games, Gibbs has 504 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, plus 243 receiving yards and two receiving scores. He joins Thurman Thomas (1991), Tiki Barber (2004) and Christian McCaffrey (2019) as the only players in NFL history with at least 500 rushing yards and 240 receiving yards through the first five games of a season.

Detroit is off this week. The Lions return rested on Sunday, Oct. 25, when they host the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field in a Week 7 matchup.
