The Green Bay Packers beat the Carolina Panthers 27-19 at Lambeau Field on Thursday night, improving to 5-3 and keeping the celebration going one day after the Milwaukee Brewers won the World Series.

The Brewers, who beat the Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to win the World Series on Oct. 28, made it back from Florida in time to surprise the crowd between the first and second quarters. They walked out of the tunnel holding the Commissioner’s Trophy while the Packers defense greeted them, and several Brewers players took a Lambeau Leap. The team stayed in a private box wearing cheeseheads that read “2026 WS Champions” before their victory parade in Milwaukee on Friday.

The game itself stayed in Green Bay’s control throughout, and the Packers closed it out in the fourth quarter. The defense forced an incompletion on a two-point conversion and a fourth-down stop, then took the field one final time with 22 seconds left.

Watson returns from hospital trip

Receiver Christian Watson left the game in the first quarter after catching a 53-yard pass from Jordan Love. He fell hard on the football with two Panthers defensive backs landing on top of him, went to the blue medical tent and then to the hospital. He returned in the third quarter and finished with eight catches on 10 targets for 113 yards. He already had 100 yards in the first half.

Love finished 30 of 41 for 288 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, a 106.6 passer rating. Receiver Matthew Golden, listed as questionable with shoulder and foot injuries, caught seven passes on 13 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Jacobs scores twice despite little room to run

Running back Josh Jacobs scored twice, once on the ground and once on a 4-yard catch from Love on third-and-1. He gained 39 yards on 21 carries, an average of 1.9 yards per carry, and caught six passes for 13 yards. Through eight games, Green Bay is on pace to become the first team since the 1946 Detroit Lions to average fewer than 60 rushing yards per game.

Linebacker Ty’Ron Hopper broke up three passes and added an interception, deflecting a Bryce Young pass into the air and catching it over his shoulder. He also had a sack, a second quarterback knockdown and six tackles. It was his second interception this season, both this month at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay sacked Young six times, with six defenders recording one sack each: Hopper, Devonte Wyatt, Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Brenton Cox Jr. and rookie Dani Dennis-Sutton. The pass rush is still missing Micah Parsons, who is nearing a return to practice.

Rookie kicker Trey Smack missed his first extra point off the left upright in the opening quarter, then made his next three. It was the eighth kick he has missed in eight games, including three extra points. In the past four weeks, he has missed four field goals and two extra points. Green Bay traded two seventh-round draft picks this spring to select him in the sixth round.
