The Golden State Valkyries beat the Atlanta Dream 68-63 on Saturday night at Chase Center in San Francisco, winning the first WNBA championship in franchise history in the first Game 7 the Finals has ever played. Golden State joined the WNBA in 2025 as an expansion team, so the title came in only its second season.

Atlanta led for much of the night. The Dream led by as many as nine points and took a 30-24 lead into halftime, before Golden State moved ahead 45-44 by the end of the third quarter and held on in the fourth.

Williams takes over in the second half

Gabby Williams led the comeback. She scored two points in the first half, then scored 15 in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth for a game-high 30 points, with four blocks. “All it took was good people. That’s it,” Williams said after the game, according to USA Today.

Tiffany Hayes scored 11 points after leaving the game in the third quarter with an injury scare and returning. Kiah Stokes had eight points and 13 rebounds, and Veronica Burton had 10 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. For Atlanta, Jordin Canada scored 18 points and Allisha Gray scored 16.

The result closed a two-year rise for Golden State. The Valkyries won 32 games in the regular season, finished as the No. 2 seed, beat Dallas in three games and swept Las Vegas to reach the Finals. NBC Sports Bay Area reported the next stop is a victory parade on Wednesday in San Francisco.
