Early In-Person Voting Opens in New Jersey for the November 3 Midterm Election
New Jersey voters can cast ballots in person starting Saturday, October 24, at any early-voting site in their county. Early voting runs through November 1, with Election Day on November 3.
Early in-person voting for New Jersey’s 2026 general election opens Saturday, October 24, giving registered voters nine days to cast a ballot before Election Day on November 3.
During the early-voting period, voters can go to any designated early-voting site in their county and vote on a machine, even if it is not their assigned Election Day polling place, according to the New Jersey Division of Elections. Sites are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is needed.

What voters need to know
Early voting was first offered in New Jersey in 2021. In the 2024 presidential election, 1,172,842 voters cast ballots early in person, a record for the state, according to NorthJersey.com. In last year’s voting, 741,924 ballots were cast during the early in-person period.
Voters who were sent a mail-in ballot but choose to vote in person instead may have to cast a provisional ballot, depending on their vote-by-mail status, the state says. The electronic poll book at the voting site will show whether a mail-in ballot was issued.

Mail-in ballots can still be returned by 8 p.m. on November 3, either in a secure county drop box or in person at the county board of elections. They cannot be returned to an early-voting site or a regular polling place. Voters can apply for a mail-in ballot by mail through October 27 or in person at their county clerk’s office until 3 p.m. on November 2.
For help finding a voting site or checking a ballot, voters can visit Vote.NJ.gov or call 1-877-NJ-VOTER.
