Kai Trump Undergoes Wrist Surgery, Ending Her First College Golf Season
The 19-year-old University of Miami freshman said she had surgery on her wrist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York after an injury suffered in her first college tournament. She gave no timetable for her return.
Kai Trump, a freshman on the University of Miami women’s golf team, said Wednesday that she underwent surgery to repair a wrist injury she suffered in September, cutting short her first college golf season.
Trump, 19, announced the procedure in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of herself in a hospital bed with her bandaged arm in a sling at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. She said she injured the wrist in her first tournament of the season and, after talking with her family, coaches and athletic training staff, decided surgery was the best choice for her long-term health and her future in the game.

Trump, the daughter of former model Vanessa Trump and businessman Donald Trump Jr., did not give a timetable for her recovery. She thanked Dr. Carlson and the hospital’s team, along with her teammates, coaches and family, and said she looks forward to rejoining the team.
She played in a three-round, two-day tournament last week in Muncie, Indiana. In January she said she had surgery on her left wrist to repair injuries to the stabilizing tissues of her ECU tendon and damage to her triangular fibrocartilage complex.
