HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are trading for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed Sunday following his team’s 26-3 win over the Tennessee Titans.

“Yes, the report is true,” Ryans said after the game.

The terms

According to multiple reports, the Texans will send a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Arizona in exchange for Harrison and a 2027 seventh-round selection. The deal comes ahead of the Texans’ Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Harrison, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 draft and a two-time All-American at Ohio State, will reunite with his college quarterback, C.J. Stroud, who has been the bright spot of Houston’s 0-4 start. The former No. 2 overall pick is owed $4 million this year and $5.62 million next year, with a fifth-year option decision coming this offseason — meaning the trade could keep him in Houston through the 2028 season.

A fresh start for a stalled career

Harrison has yet to live up to his billing as a generational wideout prospect. After two injury-disrupted seasons in Arizona, he has totaled 1,578 receiving yards in 33 career games and never reached 1,000 yards in a season. Trade rumors swirled entering 2026, and through four games this season he has just five catches on 12 targets for 85 yards and one touchdown — the fifth-most targeted option in the Cardinals’ offense.

Houston needs the help. Its passing game ranks sixth in the NFL, but Pro Bowler Nico Collins has been the only consistent weapon, leading the team’s wide receivers with 18 targets, 14 receptions, 193 yards and three touchdowns. Second-year receiver Jaylin Noel has shown promise, averaging more than 24 yards per catch on eight receptions for 186 yards.

The win over Tennessee avoided an 0-5 start for the first time since 2005 and keeps the Texans in the AFC South race heading into London.
