Warriors Rule Kristaps Porzingis Out Indefinitely With Undisclosed Health Issue
Golden State announced Wednesday that the 7-foot-3 center will miss training camp and an unspecified stretch of games while he deals with a health issue he says doctors have not yet pinpointed. Porzingis told fans on X that he is improving and asked for patience.
The Golden State Warriors have ruled Kristaps Porzingis out indefinitely because of an undisclosed health issue, the team announced Wednesday in a statement posted to social media.
Porzingis has been absent from the franchise’s preseason preparations, including its ongoing training camp. Shortly after the team’s statement, the 7-foot-3 center posted a message to fans on X, saying he is working with doctors and medical experts to get back to health as quickly as possible, while asking supporters to be patient during his recovery.

He said he is getting better and better, but that the process has been frustrating because the health problems cannot be pinpointed exactly, and because they add to a career that has already included several injuries. “Health is wealth,” he wrote. In follow-up comments, he jokingly thanked the “internet doctors” who offered ideas for his recovery and said he is in the best possible hands.
A short stint, then a new contract
Golden State acquired Porzingis ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline, sending Johnathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks. He played in 15 regular-season games for the Warriors, averaging 16.1 points, 2.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 31.1 percent from three-point range and 51.9 percent from two-point range.

The Warriors signed Porzingis to a two-year, $40 million contract extension earlier this summer, with the second year as a player option. Neither Kuminga nor Hield remains with the Hawks; both moved on during the offseason.

An open-ended absence
The team gave no timeline for Porzingis’s return and did not disclose the nature of the health issue. His absence leaves Golden State without its starting center as it works through training camp.
