Matthew Stafford threw his 155th touchdown pass for the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, passing Roman Gabriel for the most in franchise history, in a 35-21 win over the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The record pass came in the second quarter, an 11-yard throw to Puka Nacua. It was Stafford’s third touchdown pass of the first half. He had opened the scoring with a 3-yard pass to tight end Davis Allen in the first quarter and found Allen again from 5 yards out in the second quarter.

A first half that decided the game
Kyren Williams added a 17-yard touchdown run with 1:19 left in the first half, and Las Vegas cut the lead to 28-6 on Matt Gay’s 27-yard field goal as time expired. Stafford finished 23 of 29 for 195 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Los Angeles (3-4) ended a two-game losing streak.

The Raiders (3-4) lost a fourth straight game. Kirk Cousins completed 26 of 44 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns, but Las Vegas gained just 48 yards on 17 carries. The Raiders closed the gap with two quick scores in the first 1:48 of the fourth quarter, on a 37-yard pass to Tre Tucker and a 15-yard pass to Ashton Jeanty after an interception. Blake Corum’s 4-yard run made it 35-18 with 6:34 left, Gay kicked a 36-yard field goal for Las Vegas at the 4:11 mark, and the Rams ran out the clock.
Corum finished with 93 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, and Williams ran for 99 yards on 16 attempts. Los Angeles totaled 386 yards of offense.

Gabriel threw 154 touchdown passes for the Rams from 1962 to 1972. Stafford threw 282 touchdown passes in 12 seasons with Detroit, also a franchise record, before he was traded to Los Angeles. According to the Associated Press, he is the only player to hold the passing-touchdown mark for two teams. He ranks sixth in NFL history with 437 touchdown passes and trails only Pittsburgh’s Aaron Rodgers (540) among active players. Stafford threw a league-leading 46 touchdown passes last season and won his first MVP award, the Associated Press reported.
“I’m just super appreciative of all the guys that have helped me do that,” Stafford said. “Catching touchdowns and throwing touchdowns isn’t a one-man job. It takes a lot of people to block and get open and coaches who draw plays.”
