Katseye Postpones Detroit Concert 30 Minutes Before Showtime After Megan Skiendiel Falls Ill

Katseye postponed its Nov. 3 concert at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit after member Megan Skiendiel fell ill, drawing anger from fans already in the arena while original tickets stay valid for a rescheduled date.

Katseye postponed its concert at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Tuesday, Nov. 3, telling fans about 30 minutes before showtime that member Megan Skiendiel was ill and unable to perform.

The Grammy-nominated girl group announced the postponement in a statement shared on its Instagram stories. “We’re so sorry to share that tonight’s show at Little Caesars Arena has been postponed due to illness,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, Megan is unwell and unable to perform tonight, and we want to make sure she has the time she needs to rest and recover.”

The group added: “We know so many of you have traveled, made plans and been looking forward to tonight. We are incredibly disappointed that we won’t get to see you, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience.”

Fans already in the arena

The timing drew anger from concertgoers, many of whom were already inside the arena or had traveled long distances. TikTok user Jessica Guerrero filmed herself at the show with her young daughter crying beside her, saying the group had been at a VIP soundcheck earlier in the day and that she learned of the postponement through TikTok.

“They got our hopes up. They were at the VIP. They were at the soundcheck,” Guerrero said in the video. “And we don’t even live in Detroit, so this is really disappointing.”

Other fans described driving hours to Detroit and spending hundreds of dollars on tickets, travel and hotels. “Canceling 30 minutes before the show started is so unprofessional,” one user wrote on X. “Also, [consider] the amount of people who flew out for this.”

Other fans defended the group and pointed to its workload. “It seems like almost every other day we are getting news of more things being added to the girls’ schedules, as if they aren’t getting injured or ill every other week due to the hard schedule they already have!” one fan account wrote on X, adding that Katseye needs a break both physically and mentally. Another fan wrote that the blame belonged with the group’s labels, Hybe and Geffen Records, and not with the members.

What happens next

A rescheduled date has not yet been announced. Little Caesars Arena said on social media that fans’ original tickets will remain valid for the new show. USA Today reported that it has reached out to Katseye’s representatives for additional comment.

Tuesday’s postponement was the first cancellation of the Wildworld Tour, which began Sept. 1 in support of Katseye’s latest EP, “Wild.” It came one week after Skiendiel and fellow member Daniela Avanzini missed a VIP fan event in Boston because of illness. Two other members, Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman, are on hiatus as they focus on their health.

Katseye was formed in 2023 on the reality competition series “Dream Academy” and has six members: Skiendiel, Laforteza, Avanzini, Lara Raj, Yoonchae Jeung and Bannerman. The group’s next show is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, at the United Center in Chicago, according to the group’s official website.
