More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade sold in 37 states are under recall because the drinks contain food coloring that was not listed on the label, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as reported by USA Today.

The recall covers 122,021 cases of 28-ounce bottles in four varieties: Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero, according to USA Today. PepsiCo began the recall on Sept. 25 after finding the products contained Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 that had not been declared, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on Oct. 2, according to USA Today.

What a Class II classification means

The FDA describes a Class II recall as a situation in which use of or exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or where the probability of serious adverse consequences is remote, according to USA Today.

The affected cases were distributed across 37 states, including California, Texas, Florida, New York and Illinois, according to USA Today. The FDA enforcement report lists 15 lot codes for the recalled bottles, with expiration dates ranging from April 2027 to June 2027, according to USA Today.
