Elias Lindholm scored at 2:32 of overtime as the Boston Bruins rallied from two goals down in the third period to beat the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindholm took a pass from Charlie McAvoy, drove to the front of the net and put the winner past Chicago goaltender Arvid Soderblom, according to Reuters. At the other end of the ice, Boston goaltender Michael DiPietro, who made 37 saves, had stopped Anton Frondell’s bid for a hat trick on a breakaway.

Chicago led 4-2 with 7:40 left in the third period after Ryan Greene and Connor Bedard scored back-to-back goals. Mason Lohrei cut the lead to one goal 46 seconds later, scoring from a feed by JJ Peterka from behind the net. Morgan Geekie tied the game with 12 seconds left in regulation, finishing a one-time feed from McAvoy after McAvoy collected a rebound on Peterka’s shot.
David Pastrnak, Casey Mittelstadt, Lohrei, Geekie and Lindholm scored for Boston. Pastrnak’s goal moved him past Patrice Bergeron into third place on the franchise’s all-time goals list with 428, Reuters reported.

Kane reaches 900 assists
Chicago’s Patrick Kane became the first American-born player with 900 career assists in the NHL, Reuters reported. The milestone came on Frondell’s opening goal, when Kane threaded a pass across the low slot after Bedard played the puck at the point, and Frondell stepped into an open one-timer from the right circle on Chicago’s first power play at 6:04 of the first period.
Pastrnak tied the game at 13:05 of the first period on a breakaway, after Pavel Zacha flipped a backhander off the defensive-zone wall and down the middle of the ice. Frondell put Chicago back in front at 3:31 of the second period, deflecting a shot from Tyler Bertuzzi, and Mittelstadt tied the game again at 12:34 of the second, scoring from the top of the right circle off a feed from James Hagens.
Chicago outshot Boston 41-32, Reuters reported. DiPietro’s 37 saves included the overtime stop on Frondell, who finished with two goals for Chicago. Bedard finished with one goal and one assist.
