Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Emanuel Wilson ran for 100 yards and a score as Seattle beat Kansas City 20-3 on Sunday night, handing the Chiefs their first loss of the season.
The Seattle Seahawks handed the Kansas City Chiefs their first loss of the season on Sunday night, winning 20-3 at home behind a defense that held Kansas City without a touchdown and an offense that outgained the Chiefs 410 yards to 213.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught nine passes for 150 yards and a touchdown, and Emanuel Wilson rushed for 100 yards and a score on 24 carries for Seattle (4-3), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Kansas City fell to 5-1.

Seattle takes control before halftime
Jason Myers opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal with 8:22 left in the second quarter. On the next Seattle drive, safety Ty Okada intercepted a Patrick Mahomes pass, and Sam Darnold then found Smith-Njigba for a 28-yard touchdown down the left sideline with 1:44 left in the half. Smith-Njigba was first ruled out of bounds inside the 1-yard line, but a video review determined the ball had crossed the goal line, giving Seattle a 10-0 lead.

Kansas City went three-and-out on the next possession, and Seattle drove to the Chiefs’ 2-yard line before cornerback Nohl Williams intercepted a Darnold pass in the back of the end zone and returned it to the Seattle 44. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker was short on a 58-yard field goal attempt on the final play of the half, leaving the score at 10-0.
Myers added a 35-yard field goal after Seattle took the second-half kickoff, making it 13-0. The Chiefs’ only points came on Butker’s 50-yard field goal with 1:42 left in the third quarter.
Wilson closes it out in the fourth quarter
Wilson’s 21-yard touchdown run around the left end with 3:47 remaining sealed the win for the defending Super Bowl champions. Mahomes finished 19 of 33 passing for 165 yards with one interception, and tight end Travis Kelce had four receptions for 44 yards.
Kenneth Walker III, the NFL rushing leader and the most valuable player of Seattle’s 29-13 Super Bowl win over New England before he signed with Kansas City as a free agent in the offseason, was limited to 36 yards on 14 carries. Darnold completed 20 of 28 passes for 257 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
