West Ham Sack Nuno Espirito Santo After Back-to-Back Home Defeats
West Ham United sacked head coach Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday after back-to-back home defeats, with Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville in temporary charge for the trip to Cardiff City.
West Ham United sacked head coach Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday, one day before the club’s Championship trip to Cardiff City. The club said the decision followed a thorough review of the start of the season, and said a change was needed to keep its objectives on track.
Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa also left. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge for the Cardiff match, the club said.
Two home defeats ended his time in charge
West Ham won just two of their last six league games, according to Sports Mole, and the last two were home defeats to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion. The West Brom loss, 3-1 at the London Stadium on Saturday, came after the club had sat top of the table following a win over Wrexham on September 11.

Nuno took over from Graham Potter last September and stayed on after relegation from the Premier League. He leaves with 19 wins, 15 draws and 19 defeats from 53 matches in all competitions, according to Sports Mole. VAVEL reported that the club sits eighth in the Championship.
What comes next
VAVEL reported that Scott Parker is in advanced talks to take over, and that he could be in the dugout for the Cardiff trip. Parker, a former West Ham midfielder, has led Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley to promotion from the Championship, according to VAVEL. West Ham said the search for a permanent head coach is already under way, and that it will make no further comment until an appointment is confirmed.
